PITTSBURGH (AP) — Pittsburgh mayor Luke Ravenstahl is refusing to release copies of his appointment calendar, despite a ruling from Pennsylvania’s Office of Open Records.

TV station WTAE had filed a right-to-know request with the city and the Open Records office agreed the station’s position. The mayor’s office has a few weeks to hand over the calendar, which could show who he’s met with and when. The city can also choose to file an appeal.

City Solicitor Dan Regan says they haven’t decided whether to comply, and Ravenstahl says he doesn’t think it’s necessary. The city claims the calendar is the equivalent of notes and working papers, which are exempt from the public records law.
