Driver injured: A car driven by Ricardo Freeman, 36, of Homestead, was traveling northbound on Interstate 79 about 1:30 a.m. Sunday when his vehicle hit a disabled car that was parked on the east berm, police said. Freeman’s car spun and came to rest in the middle of the northbound lanes. Freeman was able to get out of the vehicle before it caught fire. Both northbound lanes were closed for about an hour. Freeman was taken to UPMC-Mercy hospital, Pittsburgh, for neck and back injuries.
