PennDOT work schedule announced

WAYNESBURG – Greene County Maintenance Manager Jerome Simkovic announced the following tentative work plan for this week All maintenance activities are conducted on a weather-permitting basis. Motorists should drive with caution throughout all work areas and be alert for signed work zones requiring the usage of headlights.

As of Nov. 1 Greene County PennDOT began winter operations and will be manning telephonic notifications 24 hours a day. Please drive extremely careful when operating a vehicle in proximity to any snow plow operations due to blowing snow, spreading of materials, and reduced visibility.

The schedule is as follows:

• Slide repair activities are completed on Route 3014, Bluff Ridge Road (Wayne Township). This road is now open to all traffic as of Nov. 1.

• Route 3011, Hargus Creek Road (Center Township) will have a slide repaired. Traffic will be one lane and controlled by a flagger. Use care and caution traveling through the area. This should be a one-day activity.

• Major slide repair is scheduled for Route 4029, WW Railroad Road (Morris Township).

• Concrete pipe replacement activities and the bridge closure and concrete pipe replacement operations continue on Route 221, Lippencott Road (Morgan Township) through projected completion date of Dec. 2. The road remains closed.

• Boom mowing operations will be conducted along roadside berms on Route 2014, (Monongahela Township) in the area of the Borough of Greensboro.

• Inlet and culvert cleaning will occur on Route 2003, Buckeye Road (Perry Township) north to the Borough of Waynesburg (Franklin Township).

• Ditch and inlet cleaning will take place on Route 4033, Garner Run Road (Washington Township) to Route 18, Browns Creek Road (Franklin Township).

• Manual brush cutting and boom mowing will take place on Route 1021, Crucible Road, from the community of Carmichaels (Cumberland Township) to Cumberland Township Road T858, Airshaft Road.

• Crack sealing will continue south on I-79 from the Waynesburg interchange (Franklin Township) to the Mount Morris interchange (Perry Township).

• Patching operations are scheduled for Route 88, from Power Plant Road (Monongahela Township Road T323) to Route 1006, Ceylon Road (Cumberland Township).

• Base repair and patching work will take place on Route 18, North Browns Creek Road (Morris Township).

• Manual and spray patching will take place on Route 3005, Herrods Run Road (Springhill Township) and on Route 18 and Route 21, West Roy Furman Highway (Center Township).

• Cross-pipe flushing is scheduled for Route 19, Mount Morris Road, (Perry Township) from the community of Mount Morris into Whitely Township.

• Mechanized ditch cleaning and pipe flushing is planned for Route 18, Golden Oaks Road (Center and Jackson Township).

• Bridge replacement operations conducted on Route 18, Golden Oaks Road (Freeport Township), near the community of New Freeport. Traffic is restricted to one lane and controlled by traffic signal. Note: This site is permitted for 11-foot wide clearance maximums.

• The Greene County State Correctional Institution’s Community Work Program will conduct roadside litter pick-up operations on Route 18, from the community of Nettle Hill (Jackson Township) to the Borough of Waynesburg (Franklin Township). Please drive carefully when encountering this moving operation.

• State roads will be reviewed and signs will be updated, downed signs will be replaced, and concerns addressed on various state roads throughout the county.

PennDOT has a 24-hour toll free number for residents to call to report any road maintenance concerns. The number is 1-800-FIX ROAD (1-800-349-7623). Be aware of an increase in white-tail deer activity throughout the entire roadway grid in Greene County.
