A square dance (also line dancing, polkas, cake walk and more) will be held from 7 to 10 p.m. Friday in Rogersville Fire Hall. Caller will be Dave Dahl. Cost is $5 per person or $8 per couple. Food and drinks will be served beginning at 6:30 p.m. Call 724-499-5385 for additional information.
Country music will be featured from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday in New Freeport Fire Hall. Bands scheduled to appear are Brad Crow and the Cutups (7 to 9 p.m.), and Back Roads (9 to 10 p.m.). The event is sponsored by the ladies auxilary and cost is $4.
A Waynesburg “Organ Crawl” sponsored by the Monongahela Chapter of the American Guild of Organists will be held Saturday. The tour will begin at 10 a.m. in St. George’s Anglican Church, 100 Bonar Ave., and then proceed to the First Baptist Church and the Waynesburg University Chapel. After lunch, the crawl will proceed to view a residential pipe organ in Waynesburg. Anyone interested in learning more about the organs in Waynesburg is invited to attend. A fundraising dinner for the Greene County Humane Society in memory of Johnny McCracken will be held from 6 p.m. to midnight Saturday in The Lodge at Rohannas in Waynesburg. The theme of evening will be “The Three Stooges,” in recognition of McCracken’s love the television series. Guests have the option of ordering the Italian buffet for $15.95 or menu items with 10 percent of the proceeds going to the Humane Society in McCracken’s memory. A Chinese auction and 50/50 drawing will also be held with all proceeds benefiting the Humane Society. A dance with D.J. Dave Rishell will follow dinner with no cover charge.
A special Veterans Day program will be held at 11 a.m. Sunday at the Clarksville Missionary Church, 204 South St., Clarksville, with Pastor Carl Leipold. The program will recognize each branch of the military. Guest speaker will be Greg Rohanna of American Legion Post 954 in Jefferson. Vocalists for the event will be Tim Lewis and Paige Armstrong, who will be singing the National Anthem. A flag folding will take place and the poem, “Freedom Call,” will be read. A luncheon will follow in the church parsonage. All are welcome.
Heaven Bound Ministries will present a free concert at 6 p.m. Sunday in First Church of the Nazarene, 115 Deerfield Lane, Waynesburg. The choir will present patriotic music complimented by media productions. A special feature will include a “sticks” presentation by the Salt and Light Sticks Ministry of First Church of the Nazarene.
Jefferson Baptist Church, 179 Pine St., Jefferson, is offering monthly support group meetings for friends and relatives of those who suffer from substance abuse of any kind. The next meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Nov. 12 in the church basement. The meetings are held on the second Tuesday of every month at the same time. At this meeting, people can talk to others who are struggling with how to deal with their loves ones who are addicted to alcohol or drugs. Cornerstone Genealogical Society’s annual banquet will be held at 6 p.m. Nov. 12 in Washington Street United Methodist Church, Waynesburg. Tickets are $20 and are available at the Genealogical Library. Tickets will not be sold at the door. Suzanne Wiley will be presenting her antique Christmas cards.
Morgan Township Society of Farm Women will meet at noon Nov. 13 at the Calvary Baptist Church. President Audrey Jacobs will preside and Doris Kovalec will have devotions. Nancy McNeely will host the covered-dish luncheon. Member are asked to bring Thanksgiving side dishes. There will be a slide show on a missionary trip to Africa.
