WAYNESBURG – Waynesburg Zoning Hearing Board voted Monday to deny variances that would allow a Waynesburg businessman to establish a used car lot at the corner of High and Richhill streets.

Richard and Jean Kalsey had sought the variances to use the vacant property for a used car lot. The property is zoned B-1, and a used car lot is a permitted use in that zone. However, it was determined variances would be needed for minimum lot area and off-street parking.

The zoning board had previously denied the variances to the Kalseys, who then appealed the decision to Greene County Court. The court remanded the case to the zoning board and another hearing was conducted in September and concluded Monday.

The previous owner of the lot, Les Bedilion, earlier had applied to the zoning hearing board for variances to establish a used car lot at the site. That request also had been denied.
