Charleroi Mayor Nancy Ellis will host a “turkey trot” Saturday in the borough to raise money for the 2,000 Turkeys drive to provide Thanksgiving meals to needy families in Washington and Greene counties.

Registration will begin at 10 a.m. in the Market House in the 400 block of McKean Avenue, and the race will begin an hour later to Tenth Street and back, Ellis said. There will a $5 entry fee for participants and dogs.

The winner will receive a bowl of Thanksgiving rice prepared by the chef at Salatino’s River House Cafe in Charleroi and a bowl of Ellis’ Syrian rice. The turkey drive is sponsored by the Greater Washington County Food Bank.
