A pedestrian walking along Jefferson Avenue in Washington was struck by a vehicle shortly before 9 p.m. Monday, city fire Chief Linn Brookman said.

The man, whom authorities declined to identify, was hit by the car in the 900 block of Jefferson Avenue near the Labor Ready business, Brookman said.

Medics transported the victim to Washington Hospital before he was flown by medical helicopter to a Pittsburgh area hospital with unspecified injuries, Brookman said.

The identity of the driver and whether that person would face any charges were not immediately known.

Washington police said the officer who responded to the accident had not completed the incident report and would not available until Thursday night. No further information was available.
