Store burglarized: The Westmoreland Supply and PPG Paints store at 2 E. Pike St. in Canonsburg was burglarized early Wednesday morning, borough police said. Someone entered the store through a rear door and took $265 in cash from a safe and rummaged through other parts of the building, police said. A store worker reported the burglary to borough police about 7:30 a.m. Wednesday.
Public drunkenness: Duane P. Nopwaskey, 54, of Waynesburg, was charged with public drunkenness and drug possession Wednesday after state police said they found him passed out in a running vehicle in a driveway along the 2500 block of Beverly Drive. Nopwaskey had an injury to his left eye from falling and hitting his head on the pavement, state police said. He was transported to Washington Hospital for treatment.
Fraud: Mary Viviano of Houston reported to state police that several attempts were made to access her debit card Oct. 23.
Retail theft: Police are investigating the theft of $510 in merchandise from Kmart at 4041 Washington Road. Two women are suspected of taking the items Wednesday afternoon as they worked in tandem, putting merchandise in their carts, paying for some items and stealing others. Police said a similar incident was reported at the Kmart in Bridgeville. The investigation continues, and police said they have suspects.
Theft: Clarence Reeves of Park Avenue, South Franklin Township, reported to state police that a 2001 Honda quad with a snow plow was stolen from his storage barn between Nov. 8 and 11. Anyone with information is asked to call the state police barracks in Washington.
Car crashes into pole: A motorist suffered minor injuries Wednesday night when he crashed into a utility pole while trying to avoid a deer on Route 837 in Union Township, Southwest Regional police said. Zachary Sudor, 25, was traveling in the 1000 block of Route 837 shortly after 8 p.m. when the accident occurred, police said. Sudor was taken by ambulance to an area hospital for precautionary reasons, police said.
Burglary report: A resident of the 100 block of Grove Street told police that about 2:30 a.m. Thursday a television, video game player and butcher knife were stolen from her home. Police said entry to the residence was gained by pushing out a screen and opening a window.
