COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) – Two Ohio universities are teaming up to help dual career couples working in higher education find closely situated jobs.

Ohio State and Case Western Reserve universities are spearheading the Higher Education Recruitment Consortium. It’s set to launch this spring.

Through the partnership, an online portal will provide couples with information on higher education and other professional job openings within a commutable distance.

Finding nearby employment is a common problem in higher education. An estimated third of U.S. academics are partnered with other academics. Another third of partners are in outside professional fields.

Ohio State’s federally funded efforts toward gender equity helped the university secure a $340,000 National Science Foundation grant making the effort possible.

Institutions and businesses can join the consortium for $3,000 to $7,000 a year.
