MT. MORRIS – A Mt. Morris man was arrested Friday night after he allegedly did doughnuts in the yards of two houses on Locust Avenue in Mt. Morris with his pickup truck and assaulted the police officer who came to arrest him.
Casey D. Sharratt, 20, of 466 Davistown Road, Mt. Morris, was charged with burglary, aggravated assault, driving under the influence of alcohol, simple assault, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and criminal mischief.
Southwest Regional Police were called to 141 Locust Ave. at 11:50 p.m. for a report Sharratt was driving his pickup truck in the yard and a neighboring yard. Police said Sharratt smelled of alcohol and refused to comply with the officer’s request to turn around so he could be handcuffed.
Sharratt had to be taken to the ground and was finally handcuffed but continued to resist, kicking the officer once in the groin and twice in the leg, police said. When the officer threatened to use pepper spray on him, Sharratt finally complied and got into the police car.
Aaron Zachar, who lives at the house, told police Sharratt also had kicked in the door to enter the house. Mary Ann Herrington, another occupant, told police Sharratt was not allowed to be at the house because of an earlier incident involving Alexandria Herrington.
Sharratt was arraigned before District Judge Lou Dayich and placed in Greene County jail without bond. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for Dec. 3.
