Riding for a cause
RUFF CREEK – A group of 13 riders under the apprenticeship of Amanda Blaker at Seldom Seen Farms in Ruff Creek will present a horseshow at 11 a.m. Saturday
The riders, mostly beginners, will have the opportunity to demonstrate their skills on American Saddlebred horses, but the real winners of Saturday’s tournament will be dozens of kids on Christmas morning. Spectators and riders alike are being asked to bring a toy to the event to donate to the Tri-County Leathernecks Toys for Tots campaign.
“This is the first year we have done this,” said Blaker, who is teaching her young brood of students the finer points of riding. “This will give the kids the opportunity to have show experience.”
Blaker said her students came up with the idea for the Toys for Tots collection. “I am very proud of them. This is a great program.”
Seldom Seen Farms opened in 2009 and it has a 20-stall barn. “We have 15 horses so every rider will have a horse on Saturday,” she said.
