The identity of the third suspect in the robbery of a Donora pizza deliveryman was revealed Wednesday during a preliminary hearing.

Denzel Johnson, 16, testified in front of Magisterial District Judge Larry W. Hopkins about his role and the alleged roles of his co-defendants, Dorian Ellis, 18, of Monessen, and Tyler Hall, 18, of Donora, in the Nov. 12 robbery of Italian Village Pizza deliveryman Hal Perry.

Johnson said the robbery was premeditated, and that he called the Belle Vernon pizza shop on Hall’s cell phone and ordered two dozen chicken wings.

When Perry arrived, Johnson said he called out to him, and the trio surrounded him.

Johnson said Ellis was the one who brought the pellet gun, and that the group ran when Perry pulled out his own gun.

Johnson said he ran as Hall and Ellis were arrested. Police arrested him the next day at his home.

Donora police said three men in hooded sweatshirts stopped Perry shortly before 10 p.m. in the 400 block of Short Street.

Police said Ellis and Hall rummaged through Perry’s pockets and van before Perry pulled out a gun.

The suspects than ran away with the chicken wings.

Police said the suspects had a pellet gun, and that they threw it away as they ran away.

Both the pellet gun and chicken wings were collected as evidence.

Perry also testified during the hearing.

After Ellis and Hall were arrested, Perry said he was able to positively identify only Ellis, and that Ellis was the one who attempted to take money from his pockets.

Perry said he pulled out his gun because he feared for his life.

Ellis and Hall were charged with robbery, criminal conspiracy, terroristic threats, theft and loitering.

During the hearing, charges of possession of instruments of crime were added.

Johnson was charged through a juvenile petition with the same counts.

Ellis and Hall remain in Washington County jail on $25,000 bonds.

Johnson is being held at a juvenile facility.
