WHEELING, W.Va. (AP) – The West Virginia Division of Natural Resources is hunting for a poacher who shot and killed a buck at Oglebay Park in Wheeling.

DNR police officer Steve Haines told The Intelligencer and Wheeling News-Register that the man fled after he was confronted by an Oglebay Park ranger.

Haines says he recovered the 10-point buck for evidence.

The incident occurred Tuesday.

Oglebay vice president of operations Rod Haley says hunting is prohibited at the park.
