WAYNESBURG – Waynesburg Borough Police are investigating vandalism and theft from several borough parking meters in the lot off of Morris and High streets.

Waynesburg Borough Police Chief Rob Toth said the incidents occurred Sept. 18 and again Monday. Toth said they are looking at a possible suspect from surveillance footage collected in the area.

Police believe the suspects cut themselves while committing the crime. Toth said blood was found in and around the meters. Additional evidence found at the scene is being processed for possible fingerprints.

Toth and Lt. Dale Phillips, who investigated the Sept. 18 incident, did not know how much money was stolen in the two thefts. Phillips said two double meters were broken into Sept. 18 and another five were vandalized Monday.

Charges of criminal mischief and theft will be filed against the person or persons involved, Toth said.

Anyone who may have information regarding either incident is asked to call borough police at 724-627-8113.
