PennDOT announces weekly work schedule

WAYNESBURG – Greene County Maintenance Manager Jerome Simkovic announced the following tentative work plan for the week of Oct. 7.

All maintenance activities are conducted on a weather-permitting basis. Motorists should drive with caution throughout all work areas and be alert for signed work zones requiring the usage of headlights.

The schedule is as follows:

• Slide repair activities will begin on Route 3014, Bluff Ridge Road (Wayne Township). This road remains closed.

• Pipe replacement activities will occur on Route 221, Lippencott Road (Morgan Township).

• Bridge closure and concrete pipe replacement operations are planned for Route 221, Lippencott Road (Morgan Township) in both directions through Nov. 1. A detour is in place.

• Base repair, shoulder grading and patching operations will continue on Interstate 79 on both the southbound and northbound lanes, from the Washington-Greene County line to the Mt. Morris interchange. Shoulder cutting, grading operations, inlet cleaning, debris removal, crack sealing, and brush cutting along berms/medians will occur throughout the entire I-79 corridor in Greene County.

• Bridge closure on Route 18, Browns Creek Road (Franklin Township) near the water dam is restricting traffic to one lane and is controlled by traffic light. Note: Traffic must stop when traffic signal is red to permit traffic with green light to proceed with extreme caution. This site is permitted for 10-foot wide clearance maximums.

• Bridge replacement operations will be conducted on Route 18, Golden Oaks Road (Freeport Township), near the community of New Freeport. Traffic is restricted to one lane and controlled by traffic signal. Note: This site is permitted for 11-foot wide clearance maximums.

• Pavement patching continues on Route 18, West Roy E. Furman Highway near the community of Rogersville (Center Township) and also on Route 21, West Roy E. Furman Highway near the community of Ryerson (Richhill Township).

• Patching and inlet cleaning will take place on Route 2010, Holbert Stretch Road (Dunkard Township) on the entire length of the road.

• Ditch cleaning will take place on Route 2029, Hunting Hills Road (Monongahela Township) and Route 2011, Bobtown Road (Dunkard Township).

• Unpaved shoulder stabilization will be conducted on Route 2019, Glades Run Road (Cumberland Township) near the community of Ceylon.

• Crews will clean clogged inlet pipes on Route 19, Mt. Morris Road (Franklin and Whiteley Township) in the area of Tower Road (Whiteley Township Road T-513) and side dozing of the shoulder and berm from the Borough of Waynesburg (Franklin Township) to the Washington and Greene County border (Washington Township).

• Inlet cleaning will occur on Route 218, Smith Creek Road (Wayne Township) to the Borough of Waynesburg (Franklin Township).

• Drain cleaning on inlet inwalls will be conducted on Route 221, Dunns Station Road (Washington Township) to the Greene and Washington County line.

• The Greene County State Correctional Institution’s Community Work Program will conduct roadside litter pick-up operations on Route 18, from the Pennsylvania and West Virginia state line near the community of Garrison (Freeport Township) to the Borough of Waynesburg (Franklin Township).

• State roads will be reviewed and signs will be updated, downed signs will be replaced, and a road survey will be conducted on Route 3006, Hero Road (Gilmore Township).

PennDOT has a 24-hour toll free number for residents to call to report any road maintenance concerns. The number is 1-800-FIX ROAD (1-800-349-7623). Be aware of an increase in white-tail deer activity throughout the entire roadway grid in Greene County. The deer are more active during the next three months and should be anticipated to appear at any time and any location adjacent to and on our state highways.
