A Canonsburg man who pleaded guilty to asking a 12-year-old girl to send nude photos to him was sentenced to jail time Friday.
Jason Mooney, 42, of 413 N. Jefferson Ave., was sentenced to 1 to 2 years in jail followed by one year of probation after pleading guilty June 4 to having a computerized photo of a child in a sex act and corruption of a minor.
Visiting Judge Edward Borkowski of Allegheny County Court also sentenced Mooney to undergo drug and alcohol treatment, counseling, pay $2,390 in fines and court fees and have no contact with the child. He also must register as a sex offender on the Pennsylvania State Police Megan’s List website.
Canonsburg police said they were alerted to the situation Aug. 24 when the girl’s mother found an explicit photograph on her daughter’s cell phone.
Police said Mooney told the girl to take the photograph and send it to his phone via text message.
