CARMICHAELS – Cumberland Township Police, with assistance from state police, are investigating a burglary at the State Store at 558 Route 88 South in Carmichaels.
Cumberland Township Police Chief Craig Miller said he believes the break-in most likely occurred after 10 p.m. Sunday because that’s when Brodak’s Shop ‘n Save and Dollar General Store, both in the same plaza, closed.
Miller said the liquor store is not open on Sunday and store employees locked up around 9 p.m. Saturday.
Employees found the broken window and missing merchandise shortly after 8 a.m. Monday.
Miller would not say what was stolen in the burglary.
“It would have been very noticeable,” Miller said of the broken window in the front of the liquor store where the burglars gained entry.
There was an unsuccessful attempt to enter the store by breaking through the front door, he said.
“We are reviewing multiple surveillance videos and fingerprints,” he said.
