FRANKLIN, Pa. (AP) — A northwestern company that manufactures mining machinery has laid off 57 workers since last week, meaning the company has cut more than 110 workers since August.

Joy Mining Machinery laid off 42 workers on Monday, in addition to 15 union workers furloughed last week. The company has laid off 115 workers since August, all members of the International Association of Machinists. The company has laid off 12 non-union supervisory workers during the same period.

Calls to the company in Franklin, which is about 70 miles north of Pittsburgh, were referred to a human resources officer who did not immediately return a call for comment Tuesday.

The Franklin company is one of several owned by Joy Global Inc., of Milwaukee, Wis. A spokesman there didn’t immediately return requests for comment.
