A McMurray resident is being held in Washington County jail on $50,000 bond after police investigating a traffic accident Monday found that a vehicle operated by one driver had been reported stolen from Connecticut.

David Waldman, 52, of 152 East Highland Drive, was arraigned before District Judge David Mark on a charge of receiving stolen property.

Peters Township police responded to a two-vehicle accident at 6:20 p.m. on East Highland. Waldman admitted backing into another vehicle, which he said was in his blind spot. Waldman had no owner’s card, so police checked the vehicle identification number and discovered it had been reported stolen from County Line Nissan in Middlebury, Conn. District Judge James Ellis has scheduled a preliminary hearing for Waldman next week.

Police also said Waldman had an active warrant from earlier this year on a felony charge of access device fraud.
