• Action: As expected, the commissioners approved a contract with the Service Employees International Union Local 668 and SEIU Healthcare PA through Dec. 31, 2016. The board also approved a supplemental appropriation to increase the budgets of all departments that were affected by the contract, which includes a pay increase of 3 percent, both retroactively and until the end of the year.
The commissioners approved the Emergency Management Performance Grant agreement on behalf of the Public Safety Department. The grant’s share of $134,878 in federal taxpayer dollars is matched by an equal contribution from Washington County taxpayers. It pays for salaries and benefits of approved staff positions in the department.
At the request of the county Planning Commission, the board OK’d a division order with Range Resources for well 48H in Cross Creek County Park representing a decimal interest of .07336204. Planning also received approval to advertise for proposals from engineering firms to design a new pedestrian bridge on the Panhandle Trail at Hanlin Station Road near Burgettstown.
The commissioners approved two cooperation agreements between the county and the Washington County Redevelopment Authority, which administers the local share account derived from gambling revenues at The Meadows Racetrack & Casino. Local share money totaling $305,000 will be used to defray the costs of replacing the Pigeon Creek No. 10 Bridge in Fallowfield Township. The Washington County Health Center, Arden, also will be using $211,000 from local share funds to defray part of the cost of an electronic medical records project.
