One dead in Greene crash
ROGERSVILLE – A Waynesburg man was killed in a two-vehicle crash at 8:15 a.m. Wednesday on Route 21, about a half of a mile west of Knob Hill Road in Center Township.
David L. Kennedy, 52, of 3783 W. Roy Furman Highway, died of injuries suffered in the crash that occurred when he was pulling out of a driveway onto Route 21, state police said.
Kennedy was exiting the driveway on the north side of Route 21 when his car entered the path of a pickup truck traveling west on Route 21, police said.
The driver of the truck, Robert Lee Evans, 48, of New Bethlehem, attempted to avoid hitting Kennedy’s car by turning to the left. The front end of his truck hit the driver’s side door of Kennedy’s car in the eastbound lane.
Evans was not injured in the crash. Police said both men were wearing seat belts.
State police were assisted at the scene by Center Township Volunteer Fire Company, which had to remove the door of Kennedy’s car to free him from the wreakage.
