CARMICHAELS – A public Pink Out night will be held Friday at the Carmichaels Mikes senior night football game against Avella. Game time is 7 p.m. and senior night festivities will precede the game at 6:20 p.m. Those attending the game are asked to support the cheerleaders’ efforts by wearing pink.

The event is a culmination of the annual efforts of the varsity and junior high cheerleading squads in the Carmichaels Area School District to raise funds for the American Cancer Society. The cheerleaders recently concluded sales of Pink Out shirts in the district and community, raising $2,665 for the cancer society. This shirt sale was organized by the Carmichaels cheerleading booster organization and coaches Erin Fitzsimmons and Lisa Robinson.

Wednesday was the annual Pink Out day in the district when students were encouraged to wear pink to school in support of cancer research. Hundreds of students participated and gathered for a photograph at the end of the school day on the high school football field. The students were placed on the field in a manner that they formed a pink ribbon, symbolic of breast cancer awareness.
