PennDOT weekly work schedule announced

The state Department of Transportation announced the following tentative work plan for the week of Oct. 14. All maintenance activities are conducted on a weather-permitting basis. Motorists should drive with caution through all work areas and be alert for signed work zones requiring the use of headlights, said Jerry Simkovic, Greene County maintenance manager.
The schedule is as follows:
• Slide repair work will continue on Route 3014, Bluff Ridge Road, in Wayne Township. This road remains closed.
• Pipe replacement activities will be done on Route 221, Lippencott Road, in Morgan Township.
• The bridge will remain closed while concrete pipe replacement operations continue on Route 221, Lippencott Road, in Morgan Township. Work will continue through Friday, Nov. 1. A detour is in place.
• Inlet cleaning, debris removal and crack sealing will be conducted on Interstate 79 from Mount Morris to Waynesburg.
• Pipe replacement activities will be done of Route 1014 in the Clarksville area.
• Bridge work on Route 18, Browns Creek Road, in Franklin Township near the water dam is restricting traffic to one lane and is controlled by traffic light. This site is permitted for ten foot wide clearance maximums.
• Bridge replacement operations are being conducted on Route 18, Golden Oaks Road, in Freeport Township, near New Freeport. Traffic is restricted to one lane and controlled by traffic signal. This site is permitted for 11-foot wide clearance maximums.
• Pavement patching will continue on Route 18, West Roy Furman Highway near the Rogersville in Center Township and also on Route 21, West Roy Furman Highway, near Ryerson in Richhill Township.
• Ditch cleaning will take place on Route 2029, Hunting Hills Road, in Monongahela Township and on Route 2011, Bobtown Road, in Dunkard Township.
• Crews will be cleaning a clogged inlet pipes on Route 19, Mount Morris Road, in Franklin and Whiteley townships in the area of Tower Road and completing side dozing of the shoulder and berm on Route 19 from Waynesburg north to the county.
• Drain cleaning will be conducted on inlet inwalls on Route 221, Dunns Station Road, in Washington Township to county line.
• The Greene County State Correctional Institution’s Community Work Program will conduct roadside litter pick-up operations on Route 18, from New Freeport to Waynesburg. Please drive carefully when encountering this moving operation.
• State roads will be reviewed and signs will be updated, downed signs will be replaced, and concerns addressed on various state roads throughout the county.

Motorists are also urged to be aware of an increase in white-tail deer activity throughout Greene County.
Deer are more active during the next three months and could appear at any time and any location adjacent to and on state highways. Drive carefully and use caution. To report locations of dead deer for removal from state highways in Greene County, call 724-627-6131.
