MIDLAND (AP) – The president of the Pennsylvania Cyber Charter School’s board of trustees has resigned and may be the target of a state review.

Officials at the Midland-based school say 57-year-old David W. Jaskiewicz of Marshall announced his resignation in an email Thursday.

School spokeswoman Christina Zarek says people were surprised by the resignation, but that the school is cooperating with a state Department of Education investigation of Jaskiewicz, an optometrist.

Last year Jaskiewicz presided over the removals of four top school administrators and a reorganization of the school’s upper management.

The founder of the school, Nicholas Trombetta, was indicted by a federal grand jury in August. He pleaded not guilty to allegations that he siphoned money from the school through a network of other companies he controlled.
