Bicyclist hits man marching in Pittsburgh parade

PITTSBURGH (AP) – Police say a bicyclist ignored barricades set up for Pittsburgh’s Columbus Day Parade and struck a man who was marching.
Police say 56-year-old Giovanni Cimino was knocked to the ground Saturday while he was handing out fliers to parade watchers and was briefly unconscious. He was taken to the hospital with a head injury.
His wife, Karen Cimino, tells the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review that her husband was being kept at the hospital overnight so doctors could perform tests. She says he was confused and needed stitches.
The cyclist’s name hasn’t been released. He suffered facial injuries and a possible concussion and also was taken to the hospital.
Police say the cyclist faces charges.
