Greene County commissioners have been selected by the Pennsylvania Library Association, Mechanicsburg, to receive its Elected Officials Award for 2013.

The award, which will be presented at the association’s annual conference Oct. 20-23 at Seven Springs Resort, honors elected officials who have demonstrated “exemplary support of library services in Pennsylvania.”

The commissioners were nominated for this recognition by the Greene County Library System and Flenniken Public Library, Carmichaels.

Rebecca Fetzner Long, chairman of the awards committee, told the commissioners that in one of the letters of nomination, it was written, the commissioners “… have made sure that libraries were an essential service in Greene County by supporting us financially and publicly.”
