• Action: Kerry Fox of Washington Redevelopment Authority told council members December is the deadline to survey streets in the borough in order to identify potential projects. Fox said the authority allocated $400,000 in federal money to Canonsburg to use for projects, including road paving, but only two small streets off South Central Avenue have been partially surveyed so far. Fox said repairing those roads would cost about $40,000. “Four hundred thousand dollars is a lot of streets, and again, we haven’t even gotten one qualified yet,” he said. The board discussed surveying North Jefferson Avenue.
The board voted 4-2 to appoint council President John Bevec to complete the term of Robert Luksis on the Canonsburg Houston Joint Authority. Bevec abstained from voting, and council members Tim Bilsky and Paul Sharkady voted no. Peter Lucas, Fran Coleman, Joseph McGarry and Richard Russo voted yes.
The board unanimously voted to appoint borough manager Bob Kipp as the zoning officer.
The board unanimously voted to approve a site plan for eight townhouses on Glenn Street.
Board members voted 5-2 to begin the eminent domain process for the Book Shop at 34 East Pike St. Council members Tim Bilsky and Paul Sharkady voted no.
The board went into executive session to discuss potential litigation.
