Community Sewing Circle of Time will meet Friday for an all-day meeting in the social room of the Union Valley United Methodist Church. Ruth Crouse will be hostess and program leader. The word for roll call is “Harvest.”

West Union Presbyterian Church in Sycamore is having a chicken barbecue dinner beginning at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church. The chicken features Mitch’s famous recipe. To reserve a whole chicken or a dinner, call Karla at 724-883-0268 or Tammy at 724-627-3185.

The Cornerstone Ministry Center, Jefferson, will hold a “Saturday Happening” for students in grades two through 12 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. This will be the first of such events that will be held on the third Saturday for the next few months. Activities will include dodge ball, nine square, carpet ball, checkers, air hockey, connect four, crafts, ping pong, archery and GaGa ball. Competition will be by age groups. Registration must be made by phone no later than the Wednesday before the event. Cost for attending is $5 and will be provided. Awards will be presented at 3:30 p.m. and parents are invited.
