AMBRIDGE (AP) – A Western Pennsylvania woman has been jailed on child endangerment charges because police say she left her napping 5-year-old daughter alone while the woman left to try to buy crack cocaine.

Ambridge police were alerted to the incident when the girl woke up alone and afraid and dialed 911 for help.

Police say 48-year-old Heidi Guido initially told them she left the girl alone, but only to drop off a prescription at a drug store. But police say Guido eventually confessed to texting someone to see if she could buy crack cocaine.

Police believe the girl was alone in the house for at least an hour before she called 911 about 3 p.m. Monday.

Online court records don’t list an attorney for Guido, who faces a preliminary hearing next Monday.
