Tourism group invites area event planners to strategy seminar

WAYNESBURG – Western Pennsylvania event planners are invited to attend a special seminar focusing on tips and methods to execute more effective events.
“Strategies for Successful Events” will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 1, at the Cranberry Highlands Golf Course in Cranberry Township.
Hosted by the Pittsburgh & Its Countryside tourism marketing group, the seminar is sponsored by participating destination marketing organizations from Armstrong, Butler, Greene, Indiana, Lawrence, Mercer and Washington counties.
The cost to attend is $5 for members of the participating tourism agencies, and $10 for nonmembers. Lunch is included. Registration is required, and the deadline is Oct. 25.
Organizers of festivals, fundraisers, special events and more will learn strategies to increase attendance and revenue as well as tips to enhance logistics planning, public relations activities and marketing efforts.

• Operations: Holly Muchnok, East Wing Events
• Finance/budgeting: Michael Peuler, CPA
• Sponsorships: Ken Cuccinelli, Quest Four
• Public Relations: Patti Jo Lambert, Butler County Tourism & Convention Bureau and Bantam Jeep Heritage Festival
• Marketing: Melanie Querry, Beyond Spots and Dots
“The seminar is ideal for tourism-oriented organizations and businesses that host or want to begin hosting events,” said Elizabeth Menhart, Greene County Tourism director. “Successful events are one way to bring tourism dollars to our communities. Participants will walk away with new ideas and strategies to improve their event and make a bigger impact.”
