WAYNESBURG – Members of Waynesburg University’s chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America will travel to Philadelphia Oct. 25-29 to participate in the 2013 PRSSA National Conference, “Foundation for Innovation,” hosted by Drexel University.
The annual event, which brings together college chapters from around the country, gives public relations students an opportunity to attend a number of sessions led by professionals in the different areas of public relations.
In addition, the conference allows students to build a strong foundation in public relations while learning how to succeed in an innovative industry.
Over the course of the five-day conference, Waynesburg’s students will not only have an opportunity to network with professionals, but also generate ideas for improving Waynesburg’s PRSSA chapter and student-run public relations firm, Red Brick Communications.
Organizations scheduled to have presenters include Burson-Marstellar, the Chicago Cubs, Edelman Digital, Google Analytics, General Motors Co., Hilton Worldwide, LIVESTRONG Foundation and the Philadelphia Eagles.
Richard Krause, the faculty adviser for Waynesburg’s chapter of PRSSA, said having his students attend conferences such as the 2013 PRSSA National Conference are aspects of higher education he believes are vital to succeeding in the professional workforce.
“Our vision is to have students introduced and networking with working professionals in the field,” said Krause. “This conference will be a tremendous opportunity for our students, and I expect them to gain much from this experience.”
