Aleppo Brethren Church will hold a free community dinner from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Friday. The menu will include vegetable soup, rolls and dessert. Takeouts are available. For more information, call 724-428-5249.
Southwestern Pennsylvania Water Authority will shut off water on Oak Forest Road starting at the intersection of Hoy Hill Road between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Friday to upgrade the system. Customers may eperience low pressure or no water and are advised to keep some containers of water to minimize the outage.
First Christian Church of Carmichaels, 235 S. Market St., is sponsoring a “Lazy Lasagna” luncheon beginning at noon Sunday. The meal will include lasagna, salad, bread, beverages and dessert. Cost is $8 for adults; $4 for children 3 to 10; and children under 3 eat free. Proceeds from the luncheon will help pay for the upcoming medical expenses of the Rev. Regan Fike.
Greene County Veterans Affairs will hold a veterans’ outreach at 10 a.m. Oct. 22 in the Lions Club Community Center in Clarksville. Veterans can make an appointment or stop by to learn about services, including pension, compensation, disability, health care, life insurance, funeral and burial claims and retroactive benefits, said Dalene Watson, office director. The third annual Cornerstone Fall Festival will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 26 at the Cornerstone Ministry Center, 381 Willis Road, Jefferson. There will be gospel music, paint a pumpkin, children’s crafts, vendors, food, hay rides and face painting.
Hewitt Presbyterian Church, 1206 Crucible Road, Rices Landing, will hold a spaghetti dinner from 4 to 7 p.m. Nov. 2. There will be traditional spaghetti and meatballs, garlic and oil pasta and anchovy pasta. Cost is $8 for adults and $4 for children 12 and under. Takeouts are available from 3 to 4 p.m.
The Greene County Disabled American Veterans van to the Pittsburgh VA Hospital will not run Nov. 25 and during the week of Dec. 2 through 6. On Nov. 29, the VA Hospital will be closed and open to emergencies only.
