District Judge James Ellis of Peters Township has been recertified as a member of the state’s unified judicial system after completing continuing legal education course work in Harrisburg.

The weeklong program ensures district judges remain current in a variety of legal topics and management techniques required to fairly adjudicate cases and effectively supervise a district court office. Included are updates on the vehicle code, civil and criminal law and landlord/tenant law.

Ellis hears cases involving Peters, Nottingham and Union townships and Finleyville.
