WAYNESBURG -Two Sycamore teens were charged with criminal trespass after trail cameras caught them breaking into a residence Oct. 7 at 453 Edgar Road.

The owner of the residence contacted police after returning home to find a broken front door. Trooper Duane Spangler said someone rummaged through the homeowner’s belongings but nothing was missing.

When the owner, who police did not identify, checked his trail cams, he was able to get an image of the teens alleged to have broken in. Charged were Nathan Ryan Phillips, 19, and John Allen Cooke, Jr., 18, both of 403 Rush Run Road.

Spangler said the homeowner told him he took the image of the teens to the Cooke residence, where the boys were identified. When Spangler went there to question them they admitted to the crime, according to the criminal complaint.

Phillips and Cooke are also charged with criminal mischief.

Both are free on $5,000 unsecured bond each. A preliminary hearing in the matter is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. Oct. 24.
