PennDOT roadwork schedule announced

Greene County Maintenance Manager Jerome Simkovic announced the following tentative work plan for the week of Oct. 21. All maintenance activities are conducted on a weather-permitting basis. Motorists should drive with caution throughout all work areas and be alert for signed work zones requiring the usage of headlights.

The schedule is as follows:

• Slide repair activities will continue on Route 3014, Bluff Ridge Road (Wayne Township). This road remains closed.

• Pipe replacement activities will occur on Route 221, Lippencott Road (Morgan Township).

• Bridge closure and concrete pipe replacement operations continue on Route 221, Lippencott Road (Morgan Township) in both directions through Nov. 1. Detour is in place and is effective.

• Crack sealing will continue on I-79 throughout the entire Greene County corridor.

• Median and roadside berm grass will be mowed over the next two weeks on Interstate-79 from the Washington County border to the West Virginia state line.

• Crack sealing will be conducted on Route 4002, Crabapple Road (Richhill Township).

• Pipe replacement activities continue on Route 1014 in the Clarksville community area.

• Bridge closure on Route 18, Browns Creek Road (Franklin Township) near the water dam is restricting traffic to one lane and is controlled by traffic light. Note: Traffic must stop when traffic signal is red to permit traffic with green light to proceed with extreme caution. This site is permitted for 10-foot wide clearance maximums.

• Bridge replacement operations conducted on Route 18, Golden Oaks Road (Freeport Township), near the community of New Freeport. Traffic is restricted to one lane and controlled by traffic signal. Note: This site is permitted for 11-foot wide clearance maximums.

• Pavement patching will continue on Route 18, West Roy E. Furman Highway near the community of Rogersville (Center Township) and inlet cleaning and grading ditch line, will occur on Route 21, West Roy E. Furman Highway near the community of Ryerson (Richhill Township).

• Roadside dozing will be conducted on Route 19, Borough of Waynesburg (Franklin Township) to Washington and Greene County line (Washington Township).

• Patching operations will take place on Route 88, from the Fayette and Greene County line (Dunkard Township) to Route 1006, Ceylon Road (Cumberland Township) and inlet cleaning will be conducted from Route 2027 Colvin Road (Monongahela Township).

• The Greene County State Correctional Institution’s Community Work Program will conduct roadside litter pick-up operations on Route 18, from the community of New Freeport (Freeport Township) to the Borough of Waynesburg (Franklin Township). .

• State roads will be reviewed and signs will be updated, downed signs will be replaced, and concerns will be addressed on various state roads throughout the county.

PennDOT has a 24-hour toll-free number for residents to call to report any road maintenance concerns. The number is 1-800-FIX ROAD (1-800-349-7623). Be aware of an increase in white-tail deer activity throughout the entire roadway grid in Greene County to report locations of dead deer for removal from state highways in Greene County, call 724-627-6131.
