Medical examiner: Remains are of Cleveland woman

CLEVELAND (AP) — Authorities say the human remains found last week in Cleveland during a renewed missing person search are those of a woman who was pregnant and 18 when she disappeared in 1995.
The Cuyahoga County medical examiner’s office confirmed Friday that the remains belong to Christina Adkins. She vanished in January 1995.
Prosecutors have said they believe a Cleveland man is linked to her disappearance.
The 49-year-old Elias Acevedo faces aggravated murder, rape and kidnapping charges in the death of Pamela Pemberton in October 1994, and of another woman called “Jane Doe” in 1995.
Adkins’ remains were discovered not far from where Pemberton’s body was found.
Authorities have re-examined the disappearances of women in Cleveland following the escape of three women held captive for a decade in a Cleveland home.
