More than $10,000 was raised Sunday at the Observer-Reporter’s No Place to Call Home purse auction at the American Legion, Washington. The event was part of the newspaper’s yearlong initiative to raise money to assist the homeless in Washington and Greene counties. Proceeds will be deposited in the “No Place to Call Home” funds established at the Washington County Community Foundation and the Community Foundation of Greene County. Grant applications will be sought later this year from agencies that provide services to the homeless, and the money will be awarded early next year.
