Carmichaels High School senior girls will play their junior counterparts in a powder-puff flag football game at 7 p.m. tonight at the high school football field. Admission is $5. The concession stand will be open throughout the event and a 50/50 drawing will take place. All proceeds benefit the Class of 2014.
A program to address the complexities and benefits of Act 54, the Pennsylvania Bituminous Mine Subsidence and Land Conservation Act, is being held at 6:30 p.m. today at the Morris Township Community Center in Nineveh. The program is hosted by the Wheeling Creek Watershed Conservancy and the Greene County Watershed Alliance. The presenter for the evening will be Oday Salim, staff attorney for the Environmental Law Clinic, University of Pittsburgh School of Law.
A free community dinner will be held from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Friday in the social room of the Rogersville United Methodist Church. The meal will be spaghetti, salad, garlic bread, desserts and beverages. Prime Time fellowship and a covered-dish dinner will be held at 6 p.m. Friday in the fellowship hall of the First Church of the Nazarene. Bring a side dish to share with eight to 10 people. Table games will follow dinner. For more information, call John or Norma at 724-852-3047.
Country music will be featured from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday at the New Freeport Fire Hall. Bands scheduled to appear are Country Pride, 7 to 8:30 p.m., and Mark Poe and Friends, 8:30 to 10 p.m. Preceding the bands will be open mic night from 6 to 7 p.m. Cost is $4 and the event is sponored by the ladies auxiliary.
