WAYNESBURG – Waynesburg Borough and the Waynesburg Area Chamber of Commerce will host its sixth annual “Halloween Spooktacular Downtown Merchant Costume Contest” Oct. 31.

All business merchants are asked to come to the county courthouse lawn in their best Halloween costumes.

Those participating are asked to stop between 8 and 9 a.m. at the courthouse steps to be judged.

Those unable to participate during that time should contact the chamber or borough office to arrange a visit to your location.

In case of rain, the location will be moved to the Waynesburg Borough office, next to the police department.

Awards will be presented and photographs will be taken of all winners at noon on the courthouse steps.

Cash prizes will be given to the scariest, prettiest, funniest, best group and best overall costumes. Most original costume will be judge’s choice, with a cash prize.

Participants must be employed within the borough or be a chamber member.

Small gifts will be awarded to the second- and third-place winners in each category.

The best overall winner will receive a $100 cash prize and a custom carved pumpkin.

The best group prize winners will receive a $100 cash prize, and the scariest, prettiest, funniest and most original winners will receive $50 cash prizes.

Visit www.waynesburgchamber.com or the chamber’s Facebook to view photos of last year’s event.
