District governor visits Rotary

WAYNESBURG – Ron Aldom, district governor for Rotary District 7330, spoke to the Rotary Club of Waynesburg Monday.

As governor for District 7330, Aldom oversees 42 Rotary clubs, including the Rotary Club of Waynesburg.

He had been a Rotarian for 15 years and is Rotary life began with the Mount Pleasant Club in 1998 and then he joined the Rotary Club of Somerset in 2005, serving as club president in 2009-10 and as assistant governor in 2010-11.

Aldom was active on the Rotary Youth Exchange committee for many years, and his daughter, Samantha, was a RYE Outbound Student to France in 2005-06.

He also serves as executive director of the Somerset County Chamber of Commerce, a position he has held since 2005.

Prior to this position, he served in a similar capacity with the Laurel Highlands Chamber and the Mount Pleasant Business District Authority. He also worked in food management at Seven Springs Resort for more than 19 years.

He also serves on a number of boards and committees including Somerset Hospital Board, Laurel Highlands Visitors Bureau Board, Allegany College of Maryland Foundation Board, Pennsylvania Highlands Community College Advisory Board, Salvation Army Board, Somerset Workshop Board and the Southern Alleghenies Workforce Investment Board, plus others.

In his down time, Aldom enjoys bicycling, wines, traveling, golf and a good cigar.
