Local man found with suspected marijuana
A Canton Township man was charged Thursday by North Franklin Township police with possession and possession with intent to deliver marijuana after he was found with several bags of the suspected drug during a traffic stop Monday night.
Morgan C. McKee, 21, of 195 Dorothy Ave., also was charged with corruption of minors and several traffic violations. Township police were monitoring traffic at the stop sign on the Interstate 70 westbound off-ramp to West Chestnut Street about 10:15 p.m. when they spotted a car that failed to stop. The driver, later identified as McKee, continued east on West Chestnut before turning left on Franklin Farms Road. Police then initiated a traffic stop.
The two back seat passengers, identified as Robert S. McDonald, 23, of 114 Rose Ave., Canton, and Timothy VanRiper, 23, of 15 Whitetail Drive, Washington, could be seen moving around in the vehicle and appeared to be shoving something under the seat. A front seat passenger, later identified as a 17-year-old North Franklin girl, could be seen spraying perfume inside the car. McKee was stuffing something in the middle of the back seat, police said.
As police approached, both McDonald and VanRiper lit up cigarettes. The girl told police she sprayed the perfume because the car smelled like smoke.
Police found a marijuana grinder in the vehicle. They also found suspected marijuana in the car, including smaller bags inside slightly larger bags in a black bookbag. McKee also had more than $200.
Charges against McKee will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Robert Redlinger. All three passengers will be charged with disorderly conduct.
