WAYNESBURG – The Margaret Bell Miller Middle School chapter of National Junior Honor Society hosted its third annual induction ceremony Monday.
The students inducted have at least a 3.5 grade-point average and are considered leaders in their community.
They will be hosting penny drives, a can food drive and running a spring fling for children, along with many other activities.
Current members, Cole Leathers, president; Briana Brock, Kaylin Tretnik, secretary; Emilee Tuttle, Sara VanDivner, Emma Tustin, treasurer; and Kadie Lagaza, spoke at the induction.
Prior to inducting students into the National Junior Honor Society, students at Margaret Bell Miller Middle School who maintained a 4.0 grade-point average were recognized at the annual “4.0 and GO” luncheon held in their honor. Special recognition was given to those eighth-grade students who maintained a 4.0 for all three years that they attended the middle school.
The program’s adviser is Jillian McGowan and the faculty council consists of Rebecca Smith, Matt Egizio, Amy Sibert, John VanMeter and Lauren Carpenter.
Helping to sponsor the banquet were Waynesburg Animal Hospital, Milliken Throckmorton Funeral Home, Community Bank and First Federal Savings and Loan.
