Southwestern Pennsylvania Water Authority will shut off water on Route 188, from the youth development center to Kennel Road, including Strope Road, between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. today, to upgrade the system. Customers may experience low pressure or no water and advised to keep containers of water to minimize the outage.
A dinner dance will be held Saturday at the Moose Lodge in Waynesburg to support the Greene County Leathernecks Toys for Tots campaign. The dinner will take place from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. with a menu choice of either chicken or steak. An appetizer choice of shrimp or fruit salad and vegetable choice of green beans or corn will be offered. Dinner also includes a baked potato, salad, dessert, and beverage. A chinese auction will also take place. The dance will be held from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. with the band Decades performing. The cost of admission is $20 per person to attend both the dinner and the dance. The cost to attend just the dance is $5 per person. Reservations for dinner are required by Thursday, Oct. 31 by phoning, 724-627-8028.
Harvest Fest will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday in the fellowship hall of Clarksville Missionary Church. There will be crafts, token gifts for teachers, food, baked goods, a Chinese auction and lunch for $4.50. Carryout meals will be available. For more information, call 724-377-2704.
A spaghetti dinner, sponsored by the Mt. Morris Lions Club, will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday in the Mt. Morris Fire Hall. The cost is $8 for adults and $4 for children. Take outs are available. Some of the proceeds from the event will benefit the Mt. Morris Senior Center.
A chicken or ham dinner will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday at the New Freeport Fire Hall. The menu will include chicken or ham, homemade noodles, mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans, cole slaw, rolls, beverages and homesmade pie. The costs is $8 for adults and $4 for chidren 12 and younger. Take out orders are available. The event is sponsored by the fire company’s ladies auxiliary.
The Carmichaels Women’s Civic Club will meet at 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 7 in the Carmichaels Methodist Church Fellowship Hall. Dalene Watson, veterans affairs director of Greene County will be the guest speaker. All members are encouraged to attend. Members are reminded to bring items for the food bank, service women care packages, women’s shelter and Dress for Success. New members are welcome as well as the former girls of the month.
A performance honoring veterans will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday, November 9 in front of the Greene County Courthouse. Singer Taylor Krebs with special guest Jason Deutsch will perform.
