Social Service League prepares for holiday extravaganza
WAYNESBURG – If you haven’t been to Social Service League’s Holiday Extravaganza, you are among the minority. Shoppers and crafters from all over the area join in the eventful day to kickoff the holiday season.
The craft show has a little something for everyone. Some come to shop for themselves, friends, teachers, children, babies, pets and more, while others come to enjoy the festive atmosphere and homemade food.
This is the 19th year for the event and once again the ladies of the League have pulled out all the stops. The event is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Waynesburg Central Elementary School and is open to the public.
There will be many returning favorites such as Boone Hollow Baskets, The Back Alley Shoppe, Merrywood Lane and Photos by And. In addition there are many new crafts such as “Cutie Patooties” (headbands and shoes for babies) and “Born Again Wood-Birdhouses” (birdhouses made from recycled wood that would otherwise be discarded).
The ladies of League will be selling homemade soup and sandwiches, as well as home-baked goods and fresh fruit cobblers. There will also be a crafters raffle, and roasted chickens will be available for takeout. The activity room will once again be offered to occupy children while you shop.
If interested you can also “like” the Social Service League Facebook page and get regular updates throughout the year on the craft show as well as other fundraising events and League activities.
Proceeds from the event will help to provide necessities for children in the Central Greene School District. For more information on Social Service League please come to the show or contact any member.
