Pa. man pleads guilty to 2010 slaying of Md. woman

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. (AP) – A south-central Pennsylvania man has been spared a possible death sentence for killing a Maryland woman more than three years ago.
Fifty-year-old Jeffrey Miles of State Line pleaded guilty Tuesday in Franklin County Court to the fatal stabbing of 29-year-old Kristy Hoke of Hagerstown, Md.
Hoke’s body was found in a remote area of Waynesboro shortly after she was killed in April 2010.
Miles is still awaiting trial for the 1995 killing of 17-year-old Angie Daley of Waynesboro, whose skeletal remains were found during the investigation into Hoke’s death.
Court documents state that Miles confessed to killing Daley by hitting her in the head with a wooden board. He does not face the death penalty in that case, which is expected to go to trial early next year.
