Magisterial District Judge Lou Dayich of Waynesburg has been recertified for service as a member of Pennsylvania’s Unified Judicial System after completing continuing legal education coursework.

The weeklong recertification program ensures that district judges remain current on legal topics and management techniques to effectively run a district court office.

Topics this year included updates on the motor vehicle code, civil and criminal law, understanding criminal history for the purpose of setting bail, alternative sentencing for youth and tobacco cases, ethics, restitution, the Home Improvement Fraud Act, case file destruction, public access, computer facilitated crimes, truancy, sexting, cyber bullying and viral shaming.
