The Canton Township woman who drove the vehicle that struck a North Franklin Township man Thursday night will not face charges.

Dawna Bonnema-Heinz, 51, was driving north on Park Avenue when she struck Dennis McCormick, 60, of Park Avenue as he walked on Park near Washington Cemetery.

Another driver, who was going south on Park, told police Officer Rodney Bush that he almost hit McCormick seconds earlier but did not have time to warn the driver of the oncoming vehicle. Bush said police believe McCormick was intoxicated and walking on the road.

McCormick remained in critical condition Tuesday afternoon at UPMC-Presbyterian hospital in Pittsburgh.
