WAYNESBURG – Waynesburg University, in cooperation with Oak View United Methodist Church and the Rev. Dr. David Stains, will offer a Hispanic chapel service each Sunday beginning this week. Services will take place at 7 p.m. in the Guesman Prayer Chapel on the first floor of the Stover Campus Center.
Stains, a lecturer of Biblical ministries at Waynesburg University, has more than 40 years of ministry experience and speaks 12 languages. He will conduct the services in Spanish and encourages all members of the community to attend.
He welcomes students, faculty and staff, immigrants, Christians from various churches and denominations, missionaries, high school Spanish club members and anyone interested in worshipping the Lord through the Spanish language.
“This has a possibility of filling a major blank for people,” Stains said. “I’d like to see people enjoy the rhythmic and beautiful praise and to see them experience scripture in the Spanish language.”
Stains serves as the pastor of the Oak View United Methodist Church in Waynesburg.
He is a peace advocate for Latin America and has led dozens of mission trips to Central and South America. He leads a Hispanic prison ministry at the State Correctional Institution in Greene County and is planning a spring trip to Paraguay to teach workshops for pastors.
