Trio to perform at Waynesburg U.
WAYNESBURG – Waynesburg University will host The Beegie Adair Trio with special guest, Monica Ramey, at 7 p.m. Sept. 12 in the Goodwin Performing Arts Center. The public is invited. Hailed as “one of the finest piano players in the world” by Entertainment News and “an accomplished artist with a delicate touch” by JazzTimes magazine, Beegie Adair and her trio, including Roger Spencer on bass and Chris Brown on drums, play in jazz clubs and festivals around the world.
Adair’s recordings are among the biggest sellers in the jazz world. A sought-after studio musician in her early days in Nashville, Adair has accompanied legendary performers such as Steve Allen, Chet Atkins, Lucille Ball, Mama Cass Elliott, Peggy Lee, Dolly Parton and Dinah Shore.
Adair has recorded and appeared on over 100 CDs, 35 of which are recorded with her trio, ranging from Cole Porter standards to Frank Sinatra classics to romantic World War II ballads. Her six-CD Centennial Composers Collection of tunes by Berlin, Carmichael, Ellington, Gershwin, Kern and Rodgers became an instant collectible classic upon its release.
In 2002, Adair joined one of the most exclusive rosters in the world when she became a Steinway Artist. She is currently a faculty member of the Nashville Jazz Workshop and performs regularly in Nashville.
