Two people suffered serious injuries in a rollover crash on Route 40 in Centerville early Wednesday morning.

State police said a car driven by Gerald E. Walls, 66, of Brownsville, was traveling west at 2:20 a.m. when it left the road on a slight curve and struck a guardrail near Malden Road before flipping onto its side and crashing into a utility pole.

Walls was ejected from the car, and his passenger, Bobbie A. Sargent, 47, of Brownsville, was trapped inside the vehicle, police said. Police said neither of them was wearing a seat belt.

Crews had to remove Sargent from the vehicle, and both were transported to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh with serious injuries, police said.

Troopers are investigating.
